Evolution of Mind - The Cognitive Power to use Langauge


There is a report published in the New Scientist web site on the 23rd of April, 2009 on the findings of proof of use of langauge in a collection of symbols found on artefacts from the Indus valley civilisation, which flourished in what is now eastern Pakistan and western India between 2500 and 1900 BC (some 4,500 years ago!!). Some scholars argued that the symbols are meaningful langauge and others argued they are just random symbols without any sense of langauge.

However, I see at least two of the symbols on one of the artefacts found look similar to ancient Chinese Ideographic characters :



May be the follow-on research can help to reveal how the use of langauge evolved in the region four to five thousand years ago...
